LegacyHearth helps you preserve and share your family's life stories. We take the privacy of your personal narratives seriously. This policy explains what data we collect, how it's processed, and how we protect it.
What We Collect
- Account information — Your name, email address, and profile details you provide during sign-up.
- Interview transcripts — The conversations you have during AI-guided interviews, including any text or audio you provide.
- Stories and narratives — The written narratives generated from your interviews.
- Photos and media — Images you upload for your stories and videos.
- Audio recordings — Voice narrations you record or that are generated for your videos.
How AI Processing Works
To create your narratives, transcribe audio, and generate voice narration, your data is processed by the following AI services:
- Anthropic (Claude) — Powers the interview conversations and narrative writing. Accessed via OpenRouter.
- OpenAI (Whisper) — Transcribes audio recordings into text.
- ElevenLabs — Generates AI voice narration for videos.
These AI providers do not use your data to train their models.
When your stories are sent to these services for processing, the data is used solely to generate your results and is not retained for model training purposes, per their API data usage policies.
Data Storage & Security
- Your data is stored in a secure database hosted by Supabase, with encryption at rest and in transit.
- Photos and audio files are stored in secure cloud storage with access controls.
- We use HTTPS for all data transmission between your browser and our servers.
- Access to your stories is restricted to you and any family members you explicitly invite.
What We Don't Do
- We never sell your personal data or stories to anyone.
- We never share your content with third parties for advertising or marketing.
- We never use your stories to train AI models.
- We never read your stories unless you contact us for support and give us explicit permission.
A Note on Sensitive Information
While we protect your data, we recommend that you avoid sharing the following during interviews:
- Social Security numbers or government IDs
- Financial account numbers or credit card details
- Passwords or security codes
- Medical record numbers
Your life stories are meaningful without these details. Focus on the moments, people, and feelings that matter.
Your Rights
- Access — You can view and download all your data at any time through the app.
- Edit — You can edit or update your stories and profile information at any time.
- Delete — You can request complete deletion of your account and all associated data by contacting us. We will remove all your data within 30 days.
- Export — You can export your stories as PDFs and download your narration audio.
